Donovan Laux is a fashion designer and corsetiere based in Chicago, Illinois.

A graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Laux's experience working across Chicago, New York, and Paris informs a perspective shaped by fashion history, craftsmanship, and experimentation.

Drawing inspiration from historical dress and traditional corsetry, Laux employs time-honored construction techniques in her work, including steel boning & busks, hand-finishing, and beyond. Her practice explores the relationship between structure and the body, balancing discipline and precision with softness, ornament, and grace.

Beyond fashion history, Laux is drawn to forms that embody a similar tension between beauty and utility - namely architecture and teeth. 

As the youngest of seven children, Laux is also deeply inspired by her family. Her relationships with her family continues to shape her understanding of identity, bringing a personal dimension to a practice grounded in technique.
